Did someone call for security?

You can tell a lot about a family just from just looking at a series of pictures...

Some mom forgot to feed her family their V-8 for the day.

Football (again and still)

Malachi asked me the other day if I knew what he wanted to be when he grew up. I knew. But I asked anyway. He said, "A football player. And a parent."

I beamed! His heart is with his family. I love that boy.

But from the early bird's first chirp until late into the night, Malachi is all about football. John and I try to explain the obsession to people. Here are a few visual examples.

His wardrobe changes throughout the day and the extra pieces are left on the floor until the next uniform change. Above you can see three football jerseys - vikings and bears (there is more variety in his closet, you may note), a pair of football pants, and football socks.

It's hard to keep a house clean with his equipment laying around everywhere. Three helmets? Yes, he does use them -- sometimes all at once. By himself. Really.

Malachi likes to wake up and do some reading (with football books from the library). This is often how I find him after naps or early in the morning.

In case you thought that Malachi only has football toys to play with, you may be relieved to know that he also loves LEGOs. However, this is what he creates. Every time. In various ways.

And this little video will bring it all home for you. sort of.

Malachi's writings

We've been using a big bin of rice to help Malachi learn the shape of his letters kinesthetically (clearly his way of learning!). It's been a big hit. In fact, everyone in the house wants to try it.

Above is Malachi's lower-case a. It's what we learn first (right after the M, of course).

Below are Malachi's "M"s he surprised me with.
